📌 Pin Talks: Harness Pinterest’s Q4 Search Surge Now

Hi Reader,

Welcome to the first proper Intel Report of October. Last week I handed the newsletter over to introduce you to my friend Dortha, and this week we're back to Pinterest with something you can act on by Friday. Every Tuesday for the rest of this month I'm bringing you fresh Pinterest intel plus my translation of what it actually means for your business. Think of October as "The Intel Report": less framework, more field notes.

In this week's newsletter…

  • Why Pinterest's Q4 search surge has quietly already started (and where to see it live)
  • The 3 keyword clusters I'm watching climb right now
  • Pro tips for layering fresh keywords without blowing up your current strategy
  • SEO fun fact about how fast Pinterest's Q4 cycle actually moves
  • Upcoming: Live Learning Workshop with The I Do Society + "Pinned, Found, Booked" workshop with Sandra

The Q4 Search Surge Is Live

Most creators think of Pinterest's Q4 cycle as a November thing. Holiday searches ramp up around Thanksgiving, buyers start planning, pins get moving. In practice, the surge begins in the first two weeks of October, and if you wait until mid-November to pay attention, you've already missed the earliest wave. The quickest way to see this in real time is Pinterest Trends. Pull it up this week and compare search volume for your niche's Q4 keywords against the same keywords six weeks ago. You'll see the climb on the chart.

Here are the three clusters I'm watching this week based on live Trends data: holiday planning keywords (gift guides, hostess ideas, seasonal decor), 2027 planning keywords (anything "2027" is already spiking in wedding, business, and lifestyle niches), and mid-fall-to-winter seasonal content keywords. Pick the cluster that fits your niche and plan 5-10 fresh pins against it this week. Pins published while the curve is climbing catch the surge; pins published after it peaks are chasing it.

PRO TIP

  • Check Pinterest Trends weekly during October, not monthly. The curve moves fast enough that a weekly check catches shifts a monthly check will miss.
  • Layer, don't swap. Add Q4 keywords to new pins rather than rewriting your evergreen strategy. Your year-round keywords are still working, and the Q4 ones are a bonus channel on top.
  • Publish while the curve is climbing, not after it peaks. Pinterest rewards fresh content most when the search demand it matches is actively rising.

Reply and tell me one Q4 keyword you're planning to pin against this week. I'll let you know whether I'm seeing it climb in Trends too, or if there's a stronger variation worth testing.

The creators who win Q4 are the ones who treat October as the opening bell, not the warm-up. See you next Tuesday for week three of the Intel Report.

Dana

How AI Search Is Changing Marketing for Wedding Pros

The way people search is shifting fast, not just on Pinterest but across the whole discovery landscape, and this post walks through what that means for how your content needs to be built going forward. It pairs well with today's intel because Q4 keyword climbs are a symptom of the bigger shift: discoverability belongs to the creators who are paying attention to how search actually moves.

Did you know?

Pinterest's Q4 search surge can lift certain seasonal keywords 300% to 500% above their baseline in a six-week window. That lift is almost always front-loaded in October and early November, not December. By the time most creators notice their holiday keywords are hot, the biggest discoverability window has already closed.
