The marketing strategy hiding in plain sight

Hi Reader,

Most marketing advice tells you to post more. Show up more. Try more platforms. But the businesses that grow steadily — the ones still standing in five years — aren't necessarily doing more. They're doing one thing better: making sure the right people can find them. That's the through-line for June. We're calling this month Built to Be Found, and we're starting with the foundation — what findability actually means, and why it matters more than reach.

In this week's newsletter…

  • The marketing question most business owners skip (and why it matters)
  • A Pinterest SEO tip you can apply in ten minutes
  • A book launch tomorrow that's worth your $9
  • A friend I want you to meet — a free workshop coming for the quietly exhausted
  • "Beyond the Logo" workshop next Wednesday — a brand foundation reset
  • Pinning Party next Tuesday for SPC members

FUN FACT

Pinterest has over 500 million monthly users, and 96% of the top searches on Pinterest are unbranded (Pinterest Business data). That means most people aren't searching for specific businesses — they're searching for solutions, ideas, and inspiration. Which is exactly the opening every small business owner needs to be found by the right person at the right time.

Why Findability Beats Reach Every Time

There are two ways to grow a wedding business online. The first is to interrupt more people — louder posting, more reels, bigger reach. The second is to be findable by the right couples (and the right industry referrals) at the exact moment they're already looking. Pinterest is built around the second one, which is why it works so well for wedding photographers, planners, florists, venues, and stationers who don't want to live in content-creation mode between weddings.

Findability is a long game. A pin you publish in June can show up in a bride's search results next March and still send a qualified inquiry to your inbox. That's the kind of compounding return that makes Pinterest a sustainable platform between engagement seasons — the V (Visibility) and E (Evergreen) of the VEIL Method working together. It's the foundation we're building on for the rest of June.

Hit reply and tell me when someone asks what you do, do you feel like the right people are finding you? Or are you still casting a wide net and hoping? Your answer will probably tell you exactly where to focus this month.

Findability isn't louder marketing, it's clearer marketing. Welcome to June!

Talk soon,

Dana

P.S. Two things to keep an eye on this month: Heidi's book launches tomorrow with a launch-week bonus that disappears June 9, and the Styled Pin Collection founder rate closes June 30. The SPC is a plug-and-play Pinterest template library built for wedding pros designed to keep your pins consistent (and your visibility working) without sitting on Canva every Sunday. Founder rate is $32/mo until June 30; after that, it moves to $47. If you've been thinking about joining, this is the window. More on the SPC →

Pro Pinterest Tips

Stop writing pin titles like ad copy. Pinterest is a search engine, which means your title should read like something a person would actually type into a search bar — not something a copywriter would polish. "Pinterest Strategy for Wedding Planners" beats "Get Discovered on Pinterest" every time, even though the second one sounds catchier.

Echo the same phrase in your pin description and on the page it links to. That trio — title, description, landing page — is what tells Pinterest who the pin is actually for. Without alignment across all three, the algorithm guesses, and guesses don't rank.

Media Recommendation: Book Launch Spotlight

"Clone Your Best Clients"

by Heidi Thompson

Heidi's bestselling book drops tomorrow, and it's the right read for anyone who's been doing all the marketing things without seeing the right inquiries come in. Her whole premise: your best past clients are sitting on the data you need to attract more like them and most business owners have no idea they're sitting on it. It's $9, instant download, and works for wedding pros at every stage.

Before you can be found by the right people, you have to know who the right people are. Heidi's system gives you the language, the patterns, and the data to answer that, which is the actual foundation underneath every keyword, pin, and piece of content you'll ever create.

There's also a live bonus training included with launch-week orders: Craft Your Perfect Fit Statement with Heidi on June 17, plus Q&A. (Recording available if you can't make it live.) Bonus disappears after June 9.

A Friend I Want You to Meet:

Alexandra Raquel Hughes

My friend Alexandra (of Conectada) is a Feminist Culture Weaver and ceremonial guide who helps women reconnect with their intuition, ancestral wisdom, and the cyclical rhythms of the Earth; the kind of soulful, rooted leadership that runs on rhythm, not hustle. Her work draws from her Quechua and settler ancestries and two decades of guiding women through life's biggest transitions, and she's honestly one of the most grounded humans of integrity I know.

I'm flagging her early because she has a free workshop coming up this month, After Patriarchy: Embodied Leadership for Conscious Women, and if the seasonal whiplash of wedding work has been wearing on you (the engagement-season sprint, the off-season anxiety, the never-actually-resting), her work is the kind of permission slip you didn't know you were looking for. Pinterest can hold your visibility while you step back; Alex's work helps you actually let yourself step back.

A foundational listen that pairs cleanly with this week's educational section on alignment between your pins, your descriptions, and the pages they link to is the single biggest leverage point most people miss.

Upcoming Events

Pinning Party Tuesday, June 9

Our monthly co-working hour for Styled Pin Collection members. If you're already inside the SPC, check your member portal for the link. If you're not yet, the founder rate is still open.

Beyond the Logo Workshop Wednesday, June 11

A free webinar I'm pointing you to from a fellow Entreprenista at Found Brands. If your brand has been feeling a little blurry, a little inconsistent, or just not quite right — this is the workshop to grab. Brand clarity is the foundation under findability, which makes it especially well-timed for this month's theme.
