Hi Reader,
Every wedding season has the same shape. You're in the middle of a booked-out month with dress fittings, timelines, gallery deliveries, vendor coordination, weekend weddings, three inbox refreshes an hour and somewhere in the back of your mind, a quiet voice starts saying I should really be marketing right now too. So you pull up Instagram at 10:47pm, post something you don't love, and go to bed feeling like you shortchanged everyone.
That's the sentence this whole month is arguing against. We're calling July Marketing While You're Busy, and the entire theme rests on one belief: you should not have to choose between serving your current clients well and attracting your next ones. Every week this month, we'll unpack one piece of what that actually looks like in practice.
In this week's newsletter…
- Why "reactive marketing" quietly makes you worse at your craft (and worse at your marketing)
- One pro pinning tip you can do in the fifteen minutes between weddings
- A friend I want you to meet — a fellow Pinterest strategist you'll appreciate
- Two upcoming events for your July calendar
Why Reactive Marketing Quietly Makes You Worse at Your Craft
The wedding industry loves talking about "doing it all." Post on Reels, be on Threads, keep Pinterest active, film behind-the-scenes on wedding days, respond to inquiries within an hour. The pitch is that with enough hustle, you can serve current couples and market to future ones and live your life.
Here's the quieter truth: when your marketing depends on you showing up every day, it doesn't just steal from your evenings and Sundays, it steals from your craft. Think about the last time you tried to write a caption while editing a gallery, or scrolled for Pinterest inspiration while you should have been finalizing a timeline. The switching cost is real. A wedding photographer producing at the top of her ability while she's split between marketing tasks and client work is a myth. You end up doing both jobs at seventy percent.
Pinterest is the exception, and it's the whole reason it anchors the VEIL Method. Pins you build in a single batching session keep working while you're editing next month's gallery. Search-driven visibility doesn't need your daily attention because the platform itself is doing the surfacing. That's what "marketing while you're busy" actually means: not doing more, but building a layer of visibility that doesn't require your presence to work.
The mental switch this month is subtle but real. Stop asking "what should I post today?" Start asking "what am I willing to publish once and let run?"
PRO TIP
Separate ideation from design. Ideation can happen anywhere — a fifteen-minute gap between meetings, while you're walking to your car, standing in a coffee line. All you need is your notes app.
Whenever a keyword idea occurs to you like a phrase your ideal couple might type into a search bar, write it down. "Summer garden wedding centerpieces." "Small backyard wedding photographer Charleston." "Timeless bridal portraits at sunset." That's ideation. It doesn't require Canva, focus, or a chunk of time. Then when you sit down for your batching session (once a week, once a month, whenever you can find two hours), you're not starting from scratch. You're already sitting on a list of ten to fifteen keyword ideas your future couples are actively searching for. Design becomes the fast part. Ideation was the hard part, and you did it in stolen moments.

Hit reply and tell me: what's one part of your marketing right now that depends on you showing up every day? I want to hear where the pressure actually sits, that's usually the thing worth rethinking first.
You don't need more time this summer. You need marketing that doesn't ask for your time in the first place.

Dana
P.S. If pinning consistently is the thing that keeps falling off your list during a busy wedding season, the Styled Pin Collection does that part for you with a growing library of plug-and-play pin templates built for wedding pros, so your visibility keeps working while you're serving current clients.
Podcast Recommendation
The Pinterest Keyword Tool: Reading Signals Instead of Guessing
If you spend more time wondering what to pin than actually pinning, this listen is the reset. The episode walks through how to read Pinterest's built-in signals — auto-fills, related searches, trending queries — so your keyword ideas come from real data instead of guesswork. It pairs cleanly with this week's pro tip: the signals are the source you're capturing from in those stolen moments.

A Friend I Want You to Meet:
Dana (Yes, Another One)
Can you believe it?! There are officially two Danas in your inbox now. Let me introduce the other one, because her work is worth knowing about.
The other Dana is a Pinterest and social media strategist who just opened a community called Pinterest & Social Media Pros. Where I focus on Pinterest for wedding creatives, hers is the wider back-of-house marketing stack: Pinterest, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook algorithm playbooks, plus SEO training (on-page and technical), email marketing automations, and the part that made me actually pay attention is her own redacted client paperwork and pricing sheets for members to reference.
If you're a wedding pro who's also your own marketer (which, let's be honest, is most of us until we can hire it out) or you know a fellow business owner or solopreneur who wants to build competence across platforms, this is worth a look. She priced it at $9/month, locked in for life for the first fifty members. Low friction to try.
