Traffic without a system is just visitors

Hi Reader,

Pinterest works best when the site it sends people to actually catches them. That was the whole argument I made alongside Emily Foster this week in Brands Worth Pinning Over — a live workshop on the second half of the marketing system most wedding pros are missing. Whether you were in the room or not, here's the recap: what we covered, what most attendees walked away with, and one thing you can do this week to close the gap between traffic and inquiries.

In this week's newsletter…

  • What "the loop between Pinterest and your website" actually means (and why most wedding pros close only half of it)
  • The takeaway that made the room go quiet
  • What to do this week if your homepage is quietly doing double duty as a landing page
  • Where to find the free 5-day course that picks up exactly where the workshop left off
  • The podcast pairing that keeps this conversation going

The Two-Part System Behind Bookable Pinterest Traffic

The workshop came down to one core argument: Pinterest strategy is a two-part system, and most wedding pros are only building half of it. The Pinterest side is the discovery layer, pins that get found, keywords that rank, boards that surface to the right couples. The website side is the conversion layer, landing pages that catch the click and turn a visitor into an inquiry.

Here's the pattern most wedding pros end up in: they invest heavily in the pin work (design, keywords, scheduling) and then send every click to their homepage. The homepage says "Welcome to [Studio Name]" with a photo of two rings and a menu, no signal about what the searching bride was looking for, no path to inquiry, no reason to stay. The pin did its job. The website didn't.

Emily and I walked through both sides: my four VEIL pillars for the Pinterest layer, her five pillars of an elevated website for the conversion layer. The takeaway that made the room go quiet: "the pin doesn't fail, the landing page does." You can double your Pinterest performance overnight without making a single new pin, by simply sending each pin to a page that actually answers what that pin promised.

That was the shift most attendees named as their next move and it's the shift I want you to consider if you weren't in the room.

PRO TIP

If you take one thing from the workshop, take this: send each pin to a page built for the phrase in that pin. Not your homepage. Not your generic services page. Not your About. A page, even a simple blog post, that specifically answers what the pin promised.

If the pin says "Autumn Wedding Ideas for Small Backyard Ceremonies," the landing page should say exactly that in the H1, show three portfolio examples of exactly that, and end with an inquiry form specifically for wedding photography. Match the click to the click's expectation. That's what turns Pinterest traffic from visitors into inquiries.

Hit reply and tell me: if you were at the workshop, what's the one thing you're implementing this week? And if you weren't, which half of the system needs the most attention in your business right now: the pins, or the pages they land on? I'm reading every response.

Now you know both halves of the system. This week is where it becomes real for your business.
